How do we know if our dog has heat stroke?

How do we know if our dog has heat stroke?

According to a recent survey conducted by the PetSafe® brand
Australia, 39% of Australians are unaware of the signs of heat
exhaustion and dehydration, which can be deadly in the extreme
heat of the Queensland summer.

The American Kennel Council (AKC) has listed that some of the
symptoms of Heatstroke are:

• Heavy Panting
• Dehydration
• Body Temperature over 41 degrees Celsius
• Excessive drooling
• Red Gums
• Rapid or irregular heart rate
• Seizures
• Muscle Tremors
• Lack of Coordination (ataxia)
• Unconsciousness
Heat stroke is a serious concern for all dogs, and if you suspect
your dog may be suffering from heat stroke, call your veterinarian
immediately.
